INTEROPERABILITY PROJECT BULLETIN BOARD The Communications Committee is appointed by the President of the Sheriffs’ Association of Texas and is composed of Sheriffs and businesses from around the state. This Committee shall meet from time to time as determined by the Committee Chairman and shall present a report of their activities at the Annual Training Conference. The purposes of the Committee include advising Association members of pertinent Federal Communications Commission (FCC) rule changes as they may apply to Public Safety radio communications in Texas. Further, the Committee will be responsible for studying current public safety radio communications infrastructure in Texas and addressing issues affecting the ability of all public safety providers in Texas to exchange information when and where it is needed even when disparate radio communications systems are involved. The Committee will work closely with the National Institute of Justice (NIJ) and Texas Interagency Radio Working Group, the research and development arm of the United States Department of Justice, and the NIJ Advanced Generation Interoperability for Law Enforcement (AGILE) program to address both interim and long-term solutions to communications interoperability problems among public safety agencies in Texas.
