Legislative Committee
The Legislative Committee is appointed by the President of the Sheriffs' Association of Texas and composed of Sheriffs from around the state. They are active participants in the legislative process and insure that all bills introduced which effect the duties, responsibilities, training, court and jail functions of the Sheriffs are given their consideration.

When a particular bill effects the Sheriffs, they will be notified so they can contact their Senators and Representatives concerning their views. The Committee will come to Austin to meet and testify for or against a bill at hearings held by the Legislature as needed.

After the completion of the Legislative Session, the Committee will provide input into the book entitled, Selected New Legislation published by the Sheriffs' Association of Texas and make said publication available to participants in the Annual Training Conference held in July of the year the legislature meets.

Resolutions Committee
The Resolutions Committee is to receive written recommendations for resolutions from the active membership of the Association prior to the Wednesday business meeting at the Annual Training Conference.

The Committee is to further consider and recommend general resolutions thanking the host sheriff, staff, speakers, convention bureau, etc.

The Committee, after considering all resolutions, shall present them to the Board of Directors of the Sheriffs' Association of Texas prior to the business meeting on Wednesday for their consideration and approval. Those resolutions that are approved by the Board will be presented by the Chairman of the Resolutions Committee to the membership at the Wednesday business meeting.

Major Crime Assessment Committee
The Major Crime Assessment Committee (MCAC) is created to help all police agencies to solve unsolved major crimes that have occurred in their community. An agency needing help should contact the Committee to set up an appointment with MCAC and bring all information relating to the unsolved major crime that they need help with and provide other evidence to the Committee. The Committee should meet at least quarterly or sooner if need be. The Committee shall consist of experts appointed by the President of the Sheriffs' Association of Texas to assist those agencies needing help. The committee shall present their report at the Annual Training Conference.

Museum and History Committee
The Museum and History Committee is created to preserve the history of the Sheriffs of Texas. The Committee shall be composed of at least 5 Sheriffs, appointed by the President of the Sheriffs' Association of Texas, who shall meet at least once a year or more if need be to receive memorabilia, subject to the approval of the Board of Directors of the Sheriffs' Association of Texas, to be housed temporarily in the Headquarters office in Austin, Texas. The committee shall present their report at the Annual Training Conference.

Membership Committee
The Membership Committee shall be composed of at least 5 Sheriffs, appointed by the Sheriffs' Association of Texas President, who shall meet at least once a year or more if need be, to encourage membership from commissioned law enforcement officers, including reserve officers, correctional officers, security personnel and certain agency investigators to become Active members and to encourage individual members of the public who support local law enforcement and members of the business/professional community who support local law enforcement to become Associate/Business Members. The committee shall present their report at the Annual Training Conference.

Communications Committee
The Communications Committee is appointed by the President of the Sheriffs' Association of Texas and composed of Sheriffs and businesses from around the state. Their purpose is to find the most feasible method of addressing the rules and regulations proposed by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to be in place by the year 2000. The Communications Committee also provides assistance and compiled information to local law enforcement agencies throughout the state of Texas on equipment and cost. The committee shall present their report at the Annual Training Conference.

Industrial Liaison Committee
During 1990, the Sheriffs' Association of Texas developed an Industrial Liaison Committee. This committee develops and administers a nonprofit foundation to assist peace officers with training needs and solicits funds to assist the Association with their objectives and goals of projects of mutual interest to law enforcement and industrial security. The committee shall present their report at the Annual Training Conference.

TCLEOSE Committee
(Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officers Standards and Education)
The TCLEOSE Committee is appointed by the President of the Sheriffs' Association of Texas and composed of Sheriffs from around the state. The committee provides input as to the education, training, and curriculum of the training program. The committee shall present their report at the Annual Training Conference.

Jail Advisory Committee
The Jail Advisory Committee is appointed by the President of the Sheriffs' Association of Texas and composed of Sheriffs from around the state. Members of the committee provide input as to the daily problems confronting the Sheriffs in maintaining a safe jail and complying with the Commissions rules and regulations. The committee shall present their report at the Annual Training Conference.

Crime Records Committee
The Crimes Records Committee is appointed by the President of the Sheriffs' Association of Texas and is composed of Sheriffs and other law enforcement personnel. The committee engages in periodic revues and makes recommendations relating to crime records. The committee shall present their report at the Annual Training Conference.
