COOKE COUNTY has an opening for a Communications Officer in the Cooke County Sheriff’s Office.

This position performs specialized radio and communications work including, receiving incoming emergency and administrative calls, prioritizing calls received, and forwarding information via computer aided dispatch system to fire departments, rescue squads, police departments, state troopers, constables, wildlife services, Sheriff¹s Department personnel, and various law enforcement task forces.

    Obtains and dispatches necessary information; gives callers direction and instruction if necessary.

    Operates the Communications Section CAD system entering and retrieving information to and from numerous databases including TCIC/NCIC, Cooke County Computer Systems, NLETS agencies, and a variety of local and state emergency response databases.

    Processes, forwards, and maintains records of information obtained or entered; maintains appropriate logs of all complaints and services requested. Answers 911 and forwards information to fire, police, and EMS as appropriate.

    Monitors state and national messages through TLETS and NLETS; monitors weather and officer safety alerts that come through the TLETS/NLETS system. Performs other related duties as required.

Must be able to lift 50 pounds. High School Diploma or GED required for this position. Must be available to work nights, weekends, and holidays.

Within 1 year of being assigned to position, must satisfactorily complete applicable CCSO training program; obtain Telecommunicator Operator certification by the State of Texas; obtain TCIC/NCIC certification by the State of Texas and attain acceptable levels of proficiency in the computer Aided Dispatch and Cooke County Criminal Justice Computer System.

Salary is $1,388.73 biweekly.
